The Sovereign League was established 28 years ago.  30 teams entered the inagural league season. Of those 30 teams, only four remain in the league today. Eastbourne Seagulls, Huntingdon Hunters, Kelso Kestrels and after a 5 season hiatus Gorleston Ghosts returned to the league in SL19.  Other long serving teams include Leeds Jaguars, Brickhill Tigers and Beverley Hammers, the latter having a 4 season hiatus between SL9-13.  A total of 116 teams have competed in the league since that first season. Eastbourne are the most successful team in Sovereign league history and hold the record for most number of years in the top division of the league, 23 consecutive seasons, In that time they have won a record seven Division 1 titles.
